Welcome to Southern Tier Scouter!
This is my very first post to the brand new website. I’ve never done this before, so please bear with me as I get my footing and work out all the bugs of having a new blog. A moment of introduction is in order I think. My name is Steve and I have been in Scouting for 20 years now if you combine my Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Explorer Post and Adult Leadership years together! Wow 20 years. I currently am the Cubmaster and Arrow of Light Den Leader for Pack 43 out of Apalachin. I have one son who will be starting his Arrow of Light in the fall, and a daughter who is a Daisy Scout. My wife is a Girl Scout Leader as well, so you can see Scouting is a rather big part of our family life.
Why Southern Tier Scouter? Well the hope is to provide a place where Scouters, of all sorts, can come and find and share ideas for local activities in our area to hope improve their Scout’s experience. This will, I hope, become a place where we as a Scout community can share what works for us; like where to take Cub Scouts for a camp out outside of the big Scout Camps, who offers Scouting badge programs, and other such information.
I am not affiliated with Baden-Powell Council, or Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways, or any other organization in any official capacity. Its just me, a volunteer hoping to help other volunteers.
Over the next few weeks watch for information to come!
As Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, once said, “The boy is not governed by don’t, but is led by do.” So lets get out there and DO!
